Vancouver, BC - June 27, 2011
- Klondex Mines Ltd. (TSX: KDX) is pleased to announce that as part of
its continuing program to improve the independence and operational
strength of the Board, on-going discussions with Kenneth G. Stowe have
been successfully completed, and Mr. Stowe has agreed to join the
Klondex Board as an additional independent director. Pending the Annual
General Meeting, effective July 1, 2011 the Board of Directors intends
to appoint Mr. Stowe as a Director, increasing the Board from six
members to seven. Mr. Stowe is the outgoing President and CEO of
Northgate Minerals Corporation (TSX: NGX) and a mining industry veteran
with over 35 years of accomplishment.
Mr. Stowe spent the first 21 years of his career at Noranda in various
operational, R&D and corporate roles. He previously served as VP,
Technology at Diamond Fields Resources, overseeing the feasibility study
of the Voisey’s Bay nickel-copper deposit. Upon Voisey’s Bay’s
acquisition by Inco, Mr. Stowe joined Westmin Resources (subsequently

mine in Chile. He then joined Northgate to re-launch the Company
through the turnaround of the struggling Kemess South copper-gold mine.
Mr. Stowe led Kemess South to become one of the lowest cost gold mines
in the world. Mr. Stowe was the recipient of the prestigious Canadian
Mineral Processor of the Year Award in 2006. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc.
degrees in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston,
Ontario. Mr. Stowe is also a director of Hudbay Minerals Inc.
Klondex President and COO, Blane Wilson, commented: “Having secured
federal and state permits, raised necessary capital and commenced the
underground development of Fire Creek, we are re-focusing on our
on-going plans to implement operational improvements for the Company.
Ken Stowe is a highly respected and accomplished mining executive who
possesses the ideal qualifications, experience and independence to guide
Klondex at this exciting time. Ken will add considerable strength to
our Board as we transition the Fire Creek gold project through advanced
underground exploration and pilot scale testing and assess the
development as we advance closer to our goal of becoming a successful
mid-tier gold producer.
“We ask our shareholders to recognize the progress we have made at Fire
Creek and our clear commitment to achieving best practices in all
aspects of the business of the Company, and to support the incumbent
slate of Klondex directors on the WHITE proxy so that we can continue
our work to bring Klondex into production. Protect your investment and
